It’s been a long time since I’ve given you an update on these critters! Let me tell you why. First the owners and I did some traveling! Winter was taken care of by the neighbours while her owners were on vacation. They were shocked at her new sweet disposition. They asked if “she was on kitty Prozac?”. They were able to pet and brush her with no problems! There’s no doubt Winter’s attitude and level of happiness has improved. Unfortunately we’ve had some setbacks in the plan to let Winter have run of the house. The owners will not risk her peeing anywhere in the house and can’t participate in the homework of extending Winter’s territory.
I don’t consider this case study to be a success because it could not be executed properly. I’m very happy Winter’s mood and quality of life has improved. Teaching her “non cat people” how to play with her and praise her will be valuable to her health.
I’ve only seen Naya the dog once since my last entry. We had another relaxing Reiki session with belly rubs. Her future living situation is unclear, and I think this adds to her anxiety.
I still check in with both critters long distance and send them loving energy.
What have I learned from this?
Just as Dr Usui discovered years ago when he first began to give Reiki, there must be an energy exchange. In this day and age, the exchange is usually money for services. Because this was not present, a lack of commitment and responsibility resulted on both ends. The owner is an integral part of their animal’s healing. They did not ask me to heal their pets. I volunteered! Unfortunately, that’s precisely why I couldn’t achieve what I wanted for the pets.
This was a great way to get experience animal communicating, making healing plans for pets and performing animal Reiki. I now understand the importance of an energy exchange in healing.
I’m super excited to announce I’ll soon be officially offering Animal Reiki! Stay tuned for rates and services.
Love and gratitude,
Brenna Reiki Master
